Detroit Islandview & Greater Villages (IVGV)
Indian Village is arguably the most famous neighborhood in Detroit because of its jaw dropping estates and large homes, sprawling lots, and the gardens. The annual Indian Village Home and Garden tour is attended by thousands of people from around the region, hoping to get a peek inside these museum quality vintage mansions, which have been updated and maintained usually with deep respect for their original period.
West Village is a lovely and up and coming, vibrant historic neighborhood that extends from Islandview to Indian Village, and goes from Jefferson to Kercheval. The heart of this neighborhood is at the corner of Van Dyke and Agnes, where a collection of small storefronts, shops and restaurants anchor the surrounding residential neighborhood. There are mid rise, art deco style brick apartment buildings adjacent to large homes and multi unit dwellings, with tree lined streets and some quirky one way drives that wind you back through time.
Islandview is the newest member of the Greater Villages family to really come into the spotlight with gorgeous new residential developments. Historic architecture is being preserved, restored, repurposed, and all in view of the lovely Belle Isle (hence the name). Just a few blocks from the vibrant west Village, where one can walk to restaurants, bars, shops, fitness studios.
